We all know getting sunburned isn’t good for you, but for some of us, our suncare knowledge stops here. Keep Reading and learn about the most important step in your skincare routines!

1. What is SPF?

The SPF or “Sun Protection Factor” number tells you how long the sun’s UV radiation would take to redeen your skin when using the product exactly as directed versus the amount of time without any sunscreen. So ideally, with SPF 30 it would take you 30 times longer to burn that if you weren’t wearing sunscreen.

2. Mineral vs. Chemical Sunscreens

Chemical sunscreens use chemicals to filter out the sun's damaging UV rays, while mineral sunscreens physically block ultraviolet radiation with ingredients like zinc oxide. Some people prefer to physically block out UV rays with mineral suncreens, however chemical sunscreens have been known to be sheer and have less of a white cast, especially on darker skin tones. If you are looking for something with a glowy look (without sparkle), Isle Glow Face & Body are for you!

3. How to apply sunscreen

Cay Skin sunscreens ideally need to be applied 30 minutes before sun exposure. This is because sunscreen needs to penetrate the skin in order to provide protection. It's best to apply every two hours, especially after swimming or excessive sweating.

4. I have melanin-rich skin! Do I have to wear sunscreen?

ALL people should use sunscreen every day. This includes people of all skin tones, including those who have dark skin or tan easily and those who don't — your skin is damaged by sun exposure over your lifetime, whether or not you burn. Babies under the age of 6 months are the only exception; their skin is highly sensitive.
